Remembering September 11, 2001, I still have a heavy heart today. So many thoughts, so many memories arise.
It seemed impossible for so much tragedy, so much innocent loss to occur in one day. I was in Virginia, in a school classroom that day. Thinking back I wonder how our school principal was able to handle this unbelievable event with such grace. We went into lock-down that day. The lives of these children will never be the same, I thought.
Then, I worried. A family member is a pilot with American Airlines. I had no idea where she was flying that dark day. I later learned she was en route to the airport when she was called back at the last moment.
That day, that week was the only time I've ever had a confusion about our timeshare week. I mixed up the time and we headed to our vacation destination the next week, only to learn we had missed our week. Our week was the previous week, the September 11 week. I am glad we were not away from home on that day. I am glad I made that unusual mistake.
I don't understand terrorists or anyone who wants to harm another person. I wish for peace and kindness. Why is that not possible on planet Earth?
